Khammam: Nelluri Koteswara Rao, the district president of BJP, led a team to submit a petition to district revenue officer Padmaja. They urged for the full implementation of the Vishwakarma scheme by the Central government.

On Wednesday, Rao emphasized the need for financial support and training for artisans in 18 different categories. He proposed that after training, each artisan should receive a loan of Rs 1 lakh.

He raised concerns about the lack of training centers in the district and blamed bankers for the scheme’s poor implementation. Rao urged authorities to set up training centers and ensure bankers properly approve loans.

Rao highlighted that only Rs 50,000 was sanctioned out of the promised Rs 1 lakh, leaving beneficiaries without sufficient funds to use their newly acquired skills.

More than 11,000 candidates applied for the scheme, but fewer than half were selected. Rao called for all eligible candidates to receive training, tool kits, allowances, and loans.
