Election officials have announced that voters in the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election must show their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) at the polling station. This step is necessary for identification before voting.
If a voter doesn’t have their EPIC, they can present one of 12 other accepted photo IDs. These include an Aadhaar Card, MGNREGA Job Card, or a Bank/Post Office passbook with a photo. Other options are a driving license, PAN Card, passport, and more, as specified by the Commission.
Minor mistakes in EPIC details, like spelling errors, won’t matter as long as the voter’s identity is clear. However, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has stated that Voter Information Slips, which provide polling details, are not valid as identity proof.
