Heavy rain drenched Nalgonda due to an upper air cyclonic circulation. From Wednesday to Thursday morning, the district saw an average rainfall of 40.1 mm. Miryalaguda experienced the most rain, recording 75.9 mm, while PA Pally followed with 74.9 mm.
Continuous rain over two days caused severe waterlogging in several parts of Miryalaguda town. Streets in Mayuri Nagar, Ranganna Colony, Mandulavari Colony, Sundar Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, and Shabu Nagar were flooded, with water entering homes. The overflow created scenes similar to lakes spilling over.
Residents, workers, and students in these areas struggled to leave their homes. In Mayuri Nagar, rainwater even brought fish onto the streets, and locals used nets to catch them.
On the town’s outskirts, fields were underwater, and ponds, streams, and canals overflowed. On Thursday, Congress leaders, including town party president Nukala Venugopal Reddy, visited the flood-affected low-lying areas along with former councillors and ward in-charges.
