Hyderabad: The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) is optimistic after receiving strong support during its ‘Janahita Padayatra’. They aim to convert this support into votes for the upcoming local elections.
The party is currently surveying for the Jubilee Hills by-elections but has not started a survey for the local elections. They believe their recent campaigns have yielded “good feedback.” The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) plans to meet this Sunday to strategize on voter mobilization.
The Congress party is thrilled with the public’s response to the first phase of the ‘Janahita Padayatra’. Party leaders think welfare initiatives, like the new ‘SannaBiyyam’ scheme, have positively influenced people, especially in rural areas.
A significant issue is the 42% Backward Class (BC) reservation in the state, where various BC communities have a strong presence. The party is addressing this at the national level. If the Centre does not pass the bills, the next PAC meeting will consider legal and political strategies, especially since the High Court has set a deadline to complete elections by September 30. Party insiders are confident of winning many seats, and the PCC president suggests a BC should be the next Chief Minister, emphasizing the reservation’s political impact in Telangana. One proposal is to allocate 42% of party seats to BCs.
The second phase of the padayatra starts on August 24. PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud has called for strong public involvement and urged party members to highlight Congress’s development and welfare efforts. He pointed to the success of the recent padayatra and the positive feedback, especially regarding reservation policies, noting that a survey was unnecessary.
