Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) official red-handed while accepting a bribe. The incident took place on Monday when the officer, A Dasarath Mudiraj, Deputy Executive Engineer of the Quality Control Division – II, demanded and received Rs 20,000 from a contractor.

The officer asked for the bribe to clear the contractor’s files and send them to higher officials for approval. According to the ACB, he had already accepted Rs 10,000 earlier for the same purpose.

Officials recovered the bribe money from the accused officer’s desk. He was then arrested and presented before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases Court. The case is currently under investigation.
