On August 27, 2024, a significant ruling was made by the X Additional District Judge of Rangareddy District at LB Nagar, Hon’ble Justice Mrs. Jayalatha. She sentenced the main accused in a 2013 murder case to life in prison.
Case Details:
The incident occurred on the evening of October 15, 2013, around 8 PM. Patloth Gopal, a resident of Kakarlagutta Thanda, got involved in an argument between his daughter and son-in-law. As Gopal tried to resolve the dispute, a family member of the son-in-law, Varthya Kalya, came to the scene. Kalya attacked Gopal with an iron rod, hitting him in the chest.
Despite attempts by Gopal’s family to stop the assault, Kalya, along with six other family members, attacked Gopal and his family with sticks. The other attackers were identified as Pathlavath Hunya, Pathlavath Srinu, Pathlavath Punya, Pathlavath Vasya, Varhya Lalitha, and Varhta Pentamma. Gopal was seriously injured and lost consciousness. He was immediately taken to Chevella Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The court sentenced the primary accused, Varthya Kalya, to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 5,000. The other six accused were each given a sentence of three years of imprisonment.
