The Telangana Power Employees Joint Action Committee (TGPEJAC) is against the State government’s plan to let the Adani Group handle power bill collection in the Old City.

They have asked the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) to talk to the government and stop any proposal of giving power supply and bill collection in Hyderabad South Circle to Adani Group or any other private company.

The employees association believes that handing over electricity supply to private companies is not good for power utilities, consumers, and employees. They are worried and upset about this issue.

The association members argue that privatizing discoms based on high AT&C losses is not the right approach. Private companies operate for profit, which could lead to more costs for consumers. Past attempts at privatization in other states did not have the desired outcomes.

The JAC suggests that TGSPDCL, with government support, can reduce losses in Hyderabad South Circle without involving a private company. The engineers, employees, and artisans are willing to work on improving the financial situation of the circle and DISCOMs by cutting down on AT&C losses.
