Gadwal: District Additional Collector Lakshmi Narayana has told officials to make strong and proper plans for buying paddy from farmers during the 2024–25 Rabi season.
A meeting to review the Rabi Action Plan took place on Tuesday at the IDOC chamber. Officials from different departments joined the discussion.
During the meeting, the Additional Collector said that every grain of paddy grown by farmers should be bought. He promised that paddy would be purchased at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) set by the government. He also said the procurement process should start in the third week of April.
He asked officials to make sure all the needed equipment and arrangements are ready at the paddy buying centers. This includes paddy cleaners, weighing machines, moisture meters, enough gunny bags, and tarpaulin covers. Because it is summer, he also told them to provide drinking water and ORS packets at all centers.
He stressed that all details of the paddy bought from farmers should be quickly entered into the Online Procurement Management System (OPMS). He also said that checkposts should be set up at the state borders to keep track of paddy movement.
The Additional Collector told officials to learn from past mistakes and make sure everything runs smoothly. He asked all government departments to work together for an efficient and transparent paddy procurement process across the district.
The meeting was attended by District Civil Supplies Officer Swami Kumar, Civil Supplies District Manager Vimala, District Agriculture Officer Sakriya Naik, District Cooperative Officer Srinivas, and other key officials.
