Hyderabad: A strong wave of opposition is rising against the recent changes made to the Wakf Act. Key leaders, including Islamic scholars, legal experts, and activists, gathered under the banner of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) to announce a fresh round of protests.
During a meeting in the city titled ‘Save Wakf, Save Constitution Movement’, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Advisor to the Telangana Government, called for massive public participation. He encouraged the formation of grassroots-level coordination teams to make the agitation more organized and impactful.
Shabbir urged the AIMPLB to reach out to TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud. He assured that local Congress leaders would support every phase of the movement. “We will stand by the Board in all democratic and legal actions to protect Wakf properties,” he said.
The Congress leader criticized the amendments to the Wakf Act, calling them a serious threat not only to the Muslim community but also to the Indian Constitution. “These changes are not just administrative. They challenge the rights of religious minorities,” he said.
He made it clear that the Congress Party fully supports the AIMPLB’s efforts, whether they involve court cases, protests, or public awareness drives. “You are not alone in this fight. We are with you every step of the way,” he promised.
Shabbir also revealed that the Congress is actively working to challenge the amended law in the Supreme Court. He expressed hope that the court would soon put a hold on the new Act.
“This is more than a legal issue,” he said. “It’s a fight for justice and for protecting the constitutional rights of minorities in India.”
The movement continues to gain momentum as voices grow louder against the controversial changes to the Wakf law.
