Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan has asked Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar to clarify reports of his meeting with Ajit Pawar. This meeting reportedly took place after Ajit Pawar split from the NCP and joined the Maharashtra government as deputy Chief Minister. The meeting allegedly occurred at the house of an industrialist in Mumbai.

Chavan stated that although it is unclear whether the meeting actually took place, media visuals have raised doubts. He emphasized that if the meeting did happen, it will not remain a secret for long, and one of them will have to reveal the truth. Chavan also mentioned that allied partners should be informed officially to avoid confusion.

In recent days, Sharad Pawar told the Election Commission that Ajit Pawar’s request for the NCP’s election symbol is premature and malicious, and it should be rejected. The Election Commission was argued that Pawar’s petition does not provide evidence of two factions within the NCP.

On July 2, Ajit Pawar split from the NCP and joined the Maharashtra government as deputy CM along with eight other NCP legislators.
