Text Size: 100%

On World Environment Day, a group of cyclists cleaned up the Ameenpur lake bed in Hyderabad. The cyclists, who support alternate mobility, came from places like Miyapur, Madhapur, Gachibowli, and Lingampally. Some of the cyclists traveled more than 50 km to participate in the activity. The clean-up was organized by Happy Hyderabad Cycling, Hyderabad Cycling Revolution, and NGO – Earth Needs You (ENY).

The Ameenpur Lake is an important location for birdwatchers and photographers in Hyderabad because flamingos, egrets, herons, cormorants, kingfishers, and river terns can be found there. However, garbage has been dumped around the lake recently, which has affected its eco-system. The cyclists gathered to address this issue and clean up the area.
