Hyderabad: The halting of road construction from Ameenpur to Chanda Nagar has left locals and commuters frustrated, as the entire stretch is full of potholes. Recent rains have only made the situation worse. Residents are urging officials to complete the roadwork.
Locals blame the Ameenpur Municipal Corporation for the poor condition of the road, which has led to severe traffic congestion between Ameenpur Kamaan road and Chanda Nagar. Road construction started last year but was stopped in February due to election rules. Additionally, drainage work for a large gated community has led to more road digging and increased potholes.
RK Yadav, a local resident, said, “The work suddenly stopped, and we don’t know why. The road is full of potholes and uneven surfaces, making it difficult for traffic to flow smoothly. The lack of proper road dividers has made things even worse, especially during peak hours.”
Suresh, another local, added, “Traveling on these roads has become a nightmare, especially after the recent rains. Weekly markets have made the congestion even worse. If the markets were moved, the traffic could be better managed.”
Residents of Chanda Nagar are fed up with complaining to officials. “Last year there was a plan to re-carpet the road, and work started but then stopped suddenly. It seems the corporation is only interested in internal roads and not in fixing the main road. This stretch has become very dangerous and is causing serious injuries to road users,” said some locals.
