APSRTC in Vijayawada has organized 5,458 buses for transporting election personnel and equipment for the upcoming elections on May 13. This amounts to about 55 percent of the total scheduled buses.
The managing director of APSRTC, Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, mentioned that the corporation also ran 1,066 special buses from Hyderabad and 284 special buses from Bangalore between May 8 and 12. Regular services were also running smoothly for passengers coming from neighboring states to vote in different parts of Andhra Pradesh.
Special buses were available from Vijayawada to various destinations like Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Tirupati, Nellore, Kakinada, Eluru, Ongole, Guntur, and others based on traffic conditions. Additional special buses were also operated due to the high influx of passengers from Hyderabad to Vijayawada.
District officials were instructed to keep an eye on the situation at bus stations and arrange special buses as needed. If passengers had to wait for a long time for a bus to the same destination, they were advised to contact the election cell number 9959111281 at the APSRTC central office. The information would then be passed on to the officials in charge of respective districts who would organize special buses accordingly.
