Hyderabad: AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi recently questioned the government about certain buildings constructed in areas known as Full Tank Level (FTL) zones. These are areas that are prone to flooding or have water bodies. He specifically asked if the government would consider demolishing these structures.

Owaisi particularly pointed out the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) office, Necklace Road, and the Golf Course in Golconda as examples of such buildings. He requested officials from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HYDRAA) to visit these sites and assess the situation.

On Sunday, Owaisi questioned whether the Congress government would take action against government offices built near Hussain Sagar. He mentioned that the GHMC office itself was constructed on what used to be a water body. Recalling his childhood memories, he shared that he used to see a water body where the GHMC office now stands while traveling in a double-decker bus to Hyderabad Public School. He also pointed out that Necklace Road is situated on an FTL zone and suggested that it should be removed.

Owaisi urged the government to take responsibility, asking, “Will you do that? It is on the FTL; you should do it. Who is stopping you?” He also mentioned the Government of India building, the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), which is located on Himayat Sagar, and questioned whether it should be removed as well.

Referring to the times of the Nizams, Owaisi explained that FTL zones were essentially the borders of lakes, as demarcated by the Nizams. He emphasized that this issue would be brought to the attention of the Mayor and that it is now up to the government to address these concerns.
