Hyderabad: On Sunday, leaders from the BRS (Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi) claimed that there was a significant political drama happening in the State under the name “HYDRA.” According to them, this organization is being used to target opposition leaders, particularly those from the BRS, as a way to settle political scores.
During a press conference held at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao, along with other MLAs Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and P Kaushik Reddy, accused the Congress government of using HYDRA for a political conspiracy against BRS legislators. Rao stated that while people in the State are suffering from viral fevers, the government is more focused on attacking its political opponents rather than addressing public health issues.
Rao pointed out that millions of farmers are protesting for loan waivers, but instead of addressing their concerns, the government is trying to distract the public.
He also criticized the Congress government for its borrowing habits, stating that in just eight months, they have borrowed Rs 65,000 crore, which amounts to Rs 8,125 crore per month. Rao expressed concern that if this continues, the government could accumulate Rs 4,87,500 crore in debt over five years. He compared this to the Rs 4,26,000 crore borrowed by the BRS government over nine years.
Rao further alleged that HYDRA is specifically targeting opposition parties. He mentioned that Rajeshwar Reddy, a Telangana activist who has worked diligently for the people, was pressured by Revanth Reddy to join the Congress or face trouble. He also claimed that cases of illegal mining were filed against Patancheru MLA G Mahipal Reddy, who faced a penalty of Rs 300 crore and several difficulties. However, after Mahipal Reddy joined the Congress, no further action was taken against him.
Rao recalled that after the Congress came to power, six cases were filed against Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, and even his wife and children faced legal troubles. He accused the government of conspiring to cause mental, political, and economic difficulties for opposition leaders.
Rao warned that Rajeshwar Reddy’s colleges would be closed within 24 hours if any government land was found to be occupied. He noted that many people receive treatment at the medical college, which was built with all necessary permissions. He accused the government of deliberately attacking these colleges under the guise of FTL (Full Tank Level) and buffer zones, even though a survey report from the Revenue and Irrigation departments indicated that there was no buffer in the area.
Finally, Rao criticized the ministers for speaking irresponsibly about loan waivers and demanded a white paper on the issue. He questioned why there were no “technical reasons” for delaying loan waivers in the past.
