A cab driver was robbed at knifepoint near Shamshabad in the early hours of Wednesday, but swift police action led to the arrest of three suspects within 48 hours. The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police apprehended the accused and recovered all stolen items, including mobile phones, cash, and the weapon used in the crime.
The incident occurred around 2:30 am on Wednesday when Sabhavath Rajender Kumar, a 32-year-old cab driver from Airport Colony, picked up two passengers near Rajiv Gruhakalpa on the ORR service road. He had accepted a booking from Shamshabad to Aramgarh. Shortly after the journey began, the situation took a dangerous turn on the NH-44 service road.
The passengers suddenly pulled the handbrake, forcing the vehicle to stop. One of them held a knife to Kumar’s throat while a third accomplice, who had been following on a motorcycle, dragged him out of the car. The gang fled with two mobile phones, Rs 180 in cash, and the cab itself. The RGIA police immediately registered a case under Section 309(4) of the BNS, which deals with robbery offenses.
Acting on leads, the police traced and arrested three individuals on Thursday night from the ORR service road in Shamshabad. The accused were identified as Faizullah of Jalpally and two juveniles. All stolen property was recovered along with the knife used in the crime. The suspects were remanded to judicial custody on Friday, September 4.
RGIA detective inspector G Pavan Kumar confirmed the arrests and stated that the entire stolen property was recovered along with the knife used in the offence. The accused were remanded to judicial custody on Friday following their arrest on Thursday night from the ORR service road in Shamshabad.
