Wanaparthy: The sale and purchase of government-assigned lands are strictly prohibited. Even though the laws clearly state that there will be serious consequences for such actions, some individuals are taking advantage of loopholes in the system for their own benefit. This is causing problems for the public.
In the village of Srinivasapuram, the government assigned about 2.06 acres of land in survey number 201 to poor families. The purpose was to help them use the land for farming to support their livelihoods. However, there are rumors in the village that the current landholder is selling the land through informal agreements and notary bonds, without obtaining any official permission. The land is also being used for building houses instead of farming.
It has been reported that buyers have already measured the land and placed boundary stones. There are also accusations that the road leading to the houses built on the land has been encroached upon.
Many villagers are accusing the landholder of illegally selling the land through informal agreements. They claim that he has been making money from these sales for a while without properly registering them, which is depriving the government of revenue. Despite this, the landholder is said to be receiving benefits from the government’s Rythu Bandhu scheme, which is meant to support farmers.
