In Wanaparthy district, there are reports of serious problems and alleged corruption involving rice mills. The rice mills were supposed to process paddy for the years 2021-22 and 2022-23, but payments have not been made. Authorities in the district have not taken any action regarding this issue.

During 2022-23, two non-working mills, Uma Maheshwara Mill and Gopal Reddy Rice Mill in Veepanagandla mandal, were given paddy. However, these mills did not process any grains. This has led to questions about why district officials are not addressing the issue.

It is alleged that a teacher is behind these mills, using them as a cover. This person has reportedly started a new mill in Kambalapuram, Pebbair mandal, which is still being built and does not have power yet. Despite this, the mill was shown as operational and received paddy in 2023-24. The exact number of bags given to the mill is not disclosed, and officials claim they do not know.

There are rumors that rice millers paid Rs 20 lakh to officials to transfer CMR rice from Wanaparthy to Mahabubnagar district. It is suggested that some district officials are involved in these activities but are not being transparent about it. Even after a district collector issued an order a week ago, no actions have been taken, leading to further doubts about the officials’ intentions.

The officials responsible for stopping the transfer of CMR rice to Mahabubnagar have not been identified. It is believed that the District Supply Officer (DSO) is not making any decisions, and officials are running everything. Despite the mills having no husk or electricity, they claim they are getting rice from other districts.

When asked for more details, the District Magistrate (DM) did not provide an appointment and said that everything is under the Joint Collector’s (JC) supervision, indicating a lack of clarity and responsibility.
