Wanaparthy: At a job site in Suguru village, located in Pebbair mandal, leaders from the Telangana Agricultural Labour Union visited to speak with workers about their problems. These leaders included M. Anjaneyulu, the district secretary for Wanaparthy, R. Devanna, the Pebbair mandal secretary, and Jayaramulu, the Srirangapur mandal secretary.
The workers shared that even though they completed their work five weeks ago, they have still not received their wages. In addition, many have not been given pay slips for more than two years. This has affected hundreds of labourers.
The conditions at the worksite are also very poor. There are no tents for shade, no drinking water, and no ORS (oral rehydration solution) packets provided to help with the heat. Workers are walking up to four kilometers and working under the hot sun without any proper facilities.
Officials such as the DRDO PD, Pebbair MPDO, and APO are supposed to make sure basic needs are met at the site, but the union says they are not doing their job properly. The union is demanding that strict action be taken against these officials for their negligence.
They also called for action against field assistants and secretaries who haven’t given out any pay slips for the last two years. The union warned that they would organize protests until the workers’ issues are addressed and justice is served.
