Karimnagar: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar visited the home of Talari Chandrayya in Koheda mandal on Wednesday. He had lunch with the family as part of a visit to check the impact of the newly launched fine rice scheme.
Chandrayya and his wife Mallavva said the fine rice scheme will greatly help their family. The Minister asked about their previous rice supplies and how the new scheme was improving their lives. The Telangana government started this programme during the Ugadi festival to ensure that every citizen can eat fine-quality rice.
Mallavva served a good meal to the Minister and officials. The family lives in a thatched house and requested a new home under the Indiramma housing scheme. The Minister assured them that steps would be taken to grant them a house.
Minister Prabhakar also mentioned other welfare schemes being run by the government. These include ration cards, 200 units of free electricity, free RTC bus travel for women, increased mess and cosmetic charges for students in Gurukuls, job recruitments, and a ₹500 bonus for ration card holders.
He said that the Telangana government is committed to continuing these welfare programmes to support the people. He called the fine rice scheme a historic decision, noting that Telangana is the only state in the country to implement such a programme.
