An awareness session was held at the ZP High School in Velugonda village, Bijnapalli Mandal, to educate students about the SHE Team and the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
SHE Team Incharge, Venkataiah, spoke to the students, encouraging them and women in the community to report any harassment they may face. He assured everyone that if complaints are made to the SHE Team, their information will be kept confidential, and the offenders will be caught and dealt with. Venkataiah also mentioned that the SHE Team operates in busy areas like major junctions and town centers. He encouraged victims to reach out to the police using the helpline numbers 100 or 8712657676.
Sriletha, the Coordinator of the Bharosa Center, explained the POCSO Act in detail. She highlighted that many cases of harassment happen by people known to the victims. She urged everyone to stay alert and not lose hope, emphasizing the importance of reporting the offenders to the police without delay.
The session was attended by the School Headmaster Ramachandraiah, along with teachers, students, and members of the Bharosa Team.
