Hyderabad: The Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) Day saw a significant event at the Secunderabad Military Station. The Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) Regional Office, part of HQ Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (TASA), organized a job fair to support Army widows and dependents. Major General Ajay Mishra, General Officer Commanding, TASA, and Shyamjali Misra, Chairperson of the Family Welfare Organisation, TASA, opened the event on Thursday. Their speeches motivated everyone and highlighted the Army’s dedication to its community.
Colonel BG Budhori, Director of AWPO for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, explained the event’s goals and results to the attending dignitaries. The fair, in partnership with Magic Bus Foundation and 15 companies like FactSet, Wipro, HDFC, Pramerica Life, Cult-fit, TOMCOM, and Make My Uniform, offered jobs in various fields such as fintech, IT, insurance, fitness, international placements, and garment industries.
Out of 129 people who registered, 75 were shortlisted, and 5 received job offers, showing the fair’s effectiveness. This initiative gave participants new career paths and boosted their confidence and hope for achieving financial independence.
The event highlighted AWPO’s crucial role in connecting corporate India with the Army community, providing a respectful platform for widows and dependents to start anew. As part of the AWWA Day festivities, the job fair symbolized resilience, empowerment, and the strong support system within the Armed Forces.
