An IndiGo flight was flying from Amritsar to Ahmedabad when it accidentally entered Pakistan’s airspace near Lahore due to bad weather. It stayed there for 30 minutes before returning to Indian airspace safely. The incident happened on Saturday evening.

The airline said that the deviation was coordinated with Pakistan’s air traffic control via telephone and the crew was in continuous contact with them. The flight landed in Ahmedabad safely after the deviation.

A senior official of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that this kind of maneuver is allowed internationally during bad weather conditions. In May, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight had entered Indian airspace for nearly 10 minutes due to heavy rainfall in Pakistan. The flight was diverted to Multan when enroute it entered Indian airspace.
