The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a case against BBC India for breaking foreign funding rules. The ED is investigating the BBC I-T raid case and has found irregularities in BBC India’s funding. In February, the Income-Tax (I-T) Department carried out a ‘survey’ at the BBC’s Mumbai studio and office in Delhi.

The ED has filed a FEMA violation case against the news broadcaster. This latest development in the case means that the ED will investigate whether or not the BBC followed the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) rules for foreign funding.

The BBC is a media conglomerate with a big presence in India. The ED’s investigation focuses on whether or not the BBC broke Indian laws around accepting foreign funding.
