Hyderabad: The BC Commission, involved in the caste survey, still hasn’t received the crucial report. This delay is hindering their study on BC reservation implementation in the state and affecting their timely responses to ongoing Supreme Court cases.
The Commission repeatedly requested the report from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who manages the Planning Department. Despite their active participation in door-to-door surveys and public hearings across Telangana, they remain without access to the report. Even the Independent Expert Working Group (IEWG) submitted a 300-page document to the government, which the Commission could not obtain. Sources revealed that requests for the report were denied, with assurances that it would be publicly available soon, pending government approval.
The Commission urgently needs the report for making important decisions about BCs and responding to Supreme Court cases. One case involves the removal of 26 castes of AP origin after bifurcation. A Commission member expressed concern, stating they cannot form decisions or respond to the Supreme Court without accurate data from the report.
