Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is working to make commuting along the city’s flyovers and underpasses more pleasant by adding beautiful artwork to the structures.
The GHMC aims to not only make travel more enjoyable but also to enhance the overall appearance of the city. They are transforming the pillars of flyovers and underpasses into vibrant art pieces. These paintings include portraits of famous sports personalities like Neeraj Chopra, Manu Bhaker, and Aman Sehrawat.
In addition to portraits, the artwork features birds, butterflies, honeybees, and other creatures. The GHMC has also decided to install vertical gardens on some of the flyover pillars to further beautify the structures.
According to the LB Nagar Deputy Commissioner, the corporation is currently working on painting the LB Nagar flyover and underpass, as well as the underpasses at Kamineni in Hayatnagar. The GHMC is committed to making Hyderabad a greener and more visually attractive city.
In the past, the GHMC had painted several walls and pillars with designs showing the state’s traditional arts, flora, and fauna. These paintings gained a lot of attention and appreciation from the public. Recently, the GHMC painted images of freedom fighters, which also received widespread praise.
The corporation is now planning to extend this project to other busy flyovers and main junctions, including places like Basheerbagh and Himayatnagar. These artworks will be complemented by colourful lights and other beautification efforts under the flyovers.
In addition to beautification, the GHMC is working on a project to improve traffic safety across the city. This project, worth Rs 78 crore, focuses on improving vehicle movement and reducing road accidents, especially at 107 key junctions in the city.
This initiative is important due to the rapid growth of cities and towns around Hyderabad, which has increased traffic and created a need for better traffic management solutions.
