A team of ministers, led by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, traveled to New Delhi. They are preparing for a Supreme Court hearing on Monday regarding a petition against the 42% BC quota in local elections. Before heading to Delhi, the Deputy CM, BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, and TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud met with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. They discussed the petition challenging the state’s order to increase BC reservations in local elections.
In Delhi, the Deputy CM and BC Welfare Minister consulted with top lawyers to strengthen their case against the petition. Earlier, Bhatti and Ponnam Prabhakar updated State Congress In-charge Meenakshi Natarajan on ongoing petitions in the Telangana High Court. The High Court will hear the BC quota case on October 8, just before the local election notification is issued. The State Election Commission released the election schedule on September 20, with elections set from October 23 to November 8.
