In Hyderabad, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka dismissed claims by BJP State President N Ramchander Rao that Telangana’s caste survey was flawed and unscientific. Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the survey followed scientific methods and was well-planned. He criticized the BJP’s remarks as political tactics to hinder social progress.
While addressing the media about the recent Socio-Economic Caste Survey conducted by the state, he expressed disappointment over BJP’s criticism. He detailed the steps taken for the survey, highlighting its transparent and scientific approach. The “Telangana Model” of gathering caste-based socio-economic data is gaining national recognition for its inclusive methodology.
Bhatti Vikramarka credited Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with the survey’s initial concept. He mentioned that Gandhi’s idea has influenced the national level, leading the Union Government to consider adding caste data to the upcoming national census.
He announced that a high-level team, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and including key ministers, will visit New Delhi on July 24. The team plans to inform the Congress central leadership about how the survey was conducted in Telangana.
Additionally, the delegation will meet Members of Parliament from various parties to seek support for legislation that would allow caste data in the national census. The state government is dedicated to promoting social justice and equitable development through data-driven policymaking, he added.
