Karimnagar: Kolagani Srinivas, aged 37, is the new Mayor of the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation. He has a strong background in social service and local politics.
Srinivas was born in June 1989 in Theegalaguttapalli village, located in the Karimnagar district. He has completed postgraduate studies in both MBA and MSW. From a young age, he was involved with the RSS and completed primary training in 2013. The teachings of Swami Vivekananda inspired him to engage in various service activities.
He has been active in youth and community programs through the NSS and NYP. Srinivas has also contributed to environmental projects and has donated blood 15 times.
During his student days, he was involved in campus politics and worked with the ABVP from 2005 to 2007, addressing student issues. From 2007 to 2009, he participated in youth mobilization through the BJYM.
He served as an NSS volunteer between 2007 and 2009, earning the title of Best Volunteer in 2010. In 2009, he attended the National Integration and Peace Camp in Assam and participated in national camps in places like Lakshadweep, Bengaluru, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
From 2009 to 2013, he worked with Ekta Parishad on tribal rights issues. For his efforts, he received the Bhai Ji Seva Puraskar from NYP in 2005 and the NSS Best Volunteer Award in 2010. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he was recognized with the ‘Rakshak Award’ by a Union Minister in 2021.
In politics, Srinivas was the BJP Mandal General Secretary from 2014 to 2019. He became the Corporator of the 1st Division from 2020 to 2025. He coordinated the Covid vaccination drive in Karimnagar in 2021 and was the Karimnagar Town-1 Convener from 2023 to 2024. In 2024, he served as the State General Secretary of NIFFA and managed the Choppadandi Mandal Sarpanch elections in 2025.
Recently, he was elected as Corporator from the 2nd Division of the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation and now serves as Mayor.
