Prime Minister Narendra Modi boosted the BJP’s campaign in Telangana for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls with a road show in the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency. Modi wore a saffron colored cap and waved to people from an open-top vehicle as he passed by. Supporters cheered with slogans like ‘Modi, Modi’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ during the road show.
Accompanying Modi were Union Minister and state BJP president G Kishan Reddy, as well as the party’s candidate from Malkajgiri Eatala Rajender. The Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public meeting at Nagarkurnool on March 16 and attend a rally in Jagtial on March 18. The BJP aims to increase its presence in the southern region, having won four out of 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana in the last general elections.
Despite a delay, a large crowd eagerly awaited Modi’s arrival for the road show. Heavy security measures were in place along the 1.3 km route and surrounding areas, with a ten-layered security setup including NSG and city police. Malkajgiri parliament constituency, the largest in terms of electorate, has been a key focus for the BJP.
The party is contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Telangana independently and hopes to improve its performance. Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Hyderabad follows his campaign activities in Kerala and Tamil Nadu as part of his tour of southern states.
