Gadwal: A fresh political demand has emerged in Jogulamba Gadwal district. Former BJP district president S. Ramachandra Reddy is urging the government to create a new revenue division with Aija town as its headquarters.

Reddy argued that Aija is one of the largest mandals in the former Mahabubnagar district and is located strategically at the southern tip of Telangana. He believes that Aija is more deserving of the upgrade than the smaller town of Pebberu.

Speaking to the media, Reddy strongly criticized the reported decision to choose Pebberu as the new headquarters. He pointed out that, according to the 2011 census, Aija has a population of over 28,000, while Pebberu has only around 12,300 people. “Why should a smaller town become the center when Aija has more people and better potential?” he asked.

Reddy said that this situation is the result of strong efforts by Vanaparthi MLA Mega Reddy. He praised Mega Reddy’s political skills and said that the MLA had successfully brought the Chief Minister to Vanaparthi and secured development projects worth nearly ₹1,000 crore. According to Reddy, other MLAs and leaders, especially from the Alampur constituency, should follow this example.

He warned that making Pebberu the revenue division center could hurt Aija’s future, especially its chances of becoming an assembly constituency. Reddy criticized local leaders including the current MLA, MLC, and former MLAs for not doing enough to bring government offices and institutions to Aija.

He added that people in Aija mandal feel let down and may launch a public protest in the Nadigadda region if their demand is ignored. He said the town needs not just administrative recognition but also better schools, roads, and government services.

In conclusion, Reddy called on leaders from both the ruling party and the opposition in Alampur to work together for Aija’s development. He urged them to forget political differences and focus on public welfare.

The event was attended by several local leaders, including Baligera Shiva Reddy, Mandal BJP President Gopalakrishna, Venkatesh Yadav, Mahesh, Rajasekhar, K. Gopal, K. Shivanna, Bheemudu, Ramakrishna, and Veeresh.

This issue has added a new angle to the political scene in the Gadwal region and may lead to wider discussions about fair development and administrative changes in Telangana’s new districts.
