In Hyderabad, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar responded to the BJP’s protest at Indira Park. He accused Ramchander Rao, the BJP State president, of trying to halt the 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) through misleading information.
Prabhakar emphasized that instead of supporting BCs, the BJP seeks to strip them of their rightful benefits.
Regarding the protest, the BC Welfare Minister affirmed that Congress is dedicated to the Kamareddy Declaration. He stated that Congress will implement this despite any obstacles from the Opposition.
He claimed the BJP is using the issue of Muslim reservation as a pretext to harm the interests of weaker sections. He suggested that if BJP leaders were serious, their MPs and Union Ministers should pressure the Central government in Delhi to enforce the 42% BC reservation in Telangana.
The Minister accused the BJP state president of being biased against weaker sections. He assured that Congress is committed to fighting for BC reservations with the same passion as the Telangana struggle and will not relent until the goal is achieved.
