BJP MP Dr. K Laxman spoke about the Bonalu festival, calling it a unique and special occasion in Telangana.
Dr. Laxman offered puja at the Ujjain Mahankali temple in Secunderabad on Sunday to celebrate Bonalu. He explained that the tradition of worshipping Ujjain Mahankali began when people were relieved from a Cholera outbreak after offering Bonalu to the deity.
Since that time, people have continued the tradition of offering Bonalu to Ujjain Mahankali every year. Dr. Laxman mentioned that the Ujjaini Mahankali temple in Secunderabad is well-known across the country.
He also noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had previously visited the goddess and offered puja at the temple.
