Hyderabad: Leaders from the BJP SC and ST Morcha protested on Tuesday. They approached Telangana Council for Higher Education (TGCHE) Chairman Prof. V Balakista Reddy. Their goal was to address the issue of private engineering colleges charging high fees.
These leaders pointed out that 17 well-known private engineering colleges in Telangana are illegally selling seats under the B Category (Management Quota) and C Category (NRI Quota) for large sums of money. This action violates government rules.
They urged for a prompt investigation and demanded strict penalties for these colleges, accusing them of making education a commodity.
Dr. Kalyan Nayak, BJP ST Morcha State President, and Kondeti Sridhar, SC Morcha State President, met Prof. Reddy. They submitted details showing how colleges charge SC/ST students between Rs 10-15 lakh for seats, ignoring reservation norms.
Speaking to the media, they insisted on tough measures against those exploiting students and breaking laws.
The leaders warned that if this commercialization of education continues and ignores the needs of SC/ST students, the BJP ST and SC Morchas will launch protests across the state.
