Hyderabad: The State government quietly introduced the ‘Netannaku Bharosa’ scheme to support handloom weavers. Each weaver receives Rs 18,000 annually, while workers at handloom centers get Rs 6,000. This initiative aims to assist at least 40,000 weavers, with funds distributed in two installments directly into their bank accounts.
State Agriculture and Handlooms Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao emphasized the government’s dedication to weavers’ welfare. The scheme, effective from June 2, has a budget of Rs 48 crore. Handloom workers using geo-tagged looms are also eligible for this aid.
Eligible beneficiaries include workers aged 18 and above involved in various preparatory tasks like dyeing, tying, designing, warping, winding, and sizing on geo-tagged looms.
