The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has completed the renovation of a historic building constructed in 1900, which will once again serve as the Ramgopalpet Police Station. The building has been handed back to the Hyderabad City Police. Ponnam Prabhakar, the in-charge Minister for Hyderabad district, will inaugurate the restored site.
Located on James Street in Secunderabad, this building functioned as the Ramgopalpet Police Station for 116 years until 2016. The station was relocated to a rented space on Minister Road due to the building’s need for repairs. Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand recalled organizing many programs at this historically significant site during his tenure as DCP Central Zone.
Commissioner Anand mentioned plans to move items back to the renovated building and emphasized the importance of preserving Hyderabad’s historical structures. He noted an increase in police vehicles and highlighted efforts to improve parking facilities.
Additionally, the Commissioner’s office at Purani Haveli, also part of the Hyderabad City Police, has been under renovation for three years and is nearing completion. Once operational, Commissioner Anand plans to work there every Friday.
S Rashmi Perumal, DCP North Zone, Rahul Hegde, DCP Traffic, and other officers were present during the visit.
