Secunderabad Cantonment Residents Struggle with Bad Roads

Hyderabad: People living in Secunderabad Cantonment are facing serious problems due to badly damaged roads and incomplete sewage lines. Although several projects to fix these issues were approved, they have not been implemented. Frustrated residents are now demanding immediate road repairs.

According to reports, the Cantonment Board had approved various projects, including new roads and pipeline installations. However, due to a lack of funds, these projects have not been completed. As a result, roads in all eight wards, including areas like Bolarum, Rasoolpura, Bowenpally, Lothkunta, and Picket, are in poor condition. Heavy rains have made things worse, leaving key connecting roads nearly unusable.

The lack of proper sewage pipelines, especially in Rasoolpura, has added to the difficulties of daily commuters. Many residents have complained that pothole-filled roads are leading to frequent accidents, with two-wheeler riders struggling to maintain balance. Traveling at night, especially during the monsoon season, has become very risky.

Despite repeated complaints, only temporary repairs have been made, which have not solved the problem. “Almost all the roads need to be re-carpeted, and proper street lighting should be installed. I complained about bad roads, including the Trimulgherry to RK Puram stretch, six months ago, but nothing has been done,” said Robin, a daily commuter.

Another resident, Manoj Kumar, expressed frustration over the delays. “We are tired of temporary solutions. Only patchwork has been done, and no road has been fully repaired. When we ask officials about the pending projects, they blame a lack of funds from the Central government. This has stopped any real progress,” he said.

Residents are now urging authorities to take immediate action to fix the roads and complete the pending projects before the situation worsens further.
