Bonalu: A Distinctive Festive Tradition of the State, Says Kishan

Hyderabad: Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, highlighted the uniqueness of the Bonalu festival to Telangana. He mentioned that this festival is celebrated in every village and town across the state.

Speaking to the media after his visit to Mahankali Temple in Amberpet on Sunday, he explained that Bonalu is a time for seeking the blessings of Mother Goddess. The festival is about praying for prosperity, well-being, good health, and protection from natural disasters and diseases. People also pray for good rains and problem-free crops.

Kishan Reddy pointed out that Bonalu is mainly a women’s festival. He noted that regardless of wealth, people from all walks of life happily offer Bonams to the goddess. It’s a tradition for people from every household to visit the temple during this time.

In Hyderabad, the city was adorned with festive decorations as people from all backgrounds celebrated Bonalu with devotion.

Kishan Reddy extended his Bonalu greetings to the people of Hyderabad. He emphasized that Bonalu is a festival dedicated to worshipping nature.

He added, “We all have to protect nature and worship Shakti. I pray to the goddess to bless the 140 crore people of the country to make the nation strong.”
