    The Telangana Government will celebrate the state’s Bonalu festival in 28 major temples in Hyderabad starting June 26. A budget of Rs 20 crore has been set aside for the event.

    A meeting to discuss the festival took place at the MCR HRD Institute. Endowment Minister Konda Surekha and Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar attended. Minister Surekha emphasized the importance of a grand celebration and urged all departments to work together to ensure smooth proceedings.

    Minister Surekha stated that there are no financial limits for the festival, with Rs 20 crore already allocated. She assured that if more funds were needed, they would consult Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for additional resources. She stressed the need for effective arrangements to prevent any issues for devotees, recalling past challenges faced by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar during last year’s festival.

    The festival will kick off with the first Bonam at Golconda on June 26. Bonalu celebrations will follow at Balkampet, Ujjaini Mahankali, and Lal Darwaja, featuring rangams and large processions. Ministers instructed officials to finalize preparations and ensure temple cheques are processed before the festivities. Officials were urged to adopt a service-oriented mindset.

    Police were tasked with maintaining order and coordinating with all departments to prevent any incidents. Minister Surekha asked for feedback on temple issues to ensure smooth festival management. Key figures like GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijaya Lakshmi, Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, and top officials, including Principal Secretary Shailaja Ramaiyar and DGP Jitender, attended the coordination meeting.
