Hyderabad: BRS leader P Karthik Reddy announced on Thursday that he plans to begin an indefinite hunger strike if the government fails to provide Rythu Bandhu funds to farmers in Rangareddy district.
During a press conference with BRSV President Gellu Srinivas Yadav, Karthik Reddy questioned if Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is even aware of the existence of the combined Rangareddy district. He claimed that Revanth Reddy is neglecting the area because the Congress party did not secure votes or seats there.
The per capita income in Rangareddy is second only to Gurgaon district in Haryana and is among the top five income-generating districts in the country. Karthik Reddy criticized the lack of Rythu Bandhu funds reaching local farmers, insisting on calling it Rythu Bharosa in his remarks.
He voiced concerns about the district’s farmers feeling betrayed over the 111 GO issue and criticized Revanth Reddy for neglecting even the road to his constituency. He questioned the political neglect of Rangareddy, asking why no suitable ministerial candidate could be found there.
Karthik Reddy vowed to start his hunger strike if the funds are not disbursed within a week. He compared KCR’s affection for farmers to that of a mother’s love, while accusing Revanth Reddy of having a stepmother’s affection.
