BRS Leaders Criticize Congress, Call Revanth Reddy a “Vulture Preying on Farmers”

Leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Jogulamba Gadwal district have come down heavily on Congress and its state chief, Revanth Reddy. They accused him of betraying farmers with false promises and likened him to a “vulture” preying on their struggles.

During a protest at Ambedkar Chowrasta in the Alampur constituency, BRS leaders condemned the Congress government for reducing financial aid promised under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. The Congress had pledged ₹15,000 per acre for farmers but slashed it to ₹12,000, sparking outrage. The protest was disrupted by police, and several leaders, including district coordinator Kuruva Pallaiah, were detained and taken to the Aija Police Station.

Key Points from Kuruva Pallaiah’s Speech

Kuruva Pallaiah criticized Revanth Reddy for his statements against BRS initiatives. “When KCR gave ₹10,000 under Rythu Bandhu, Revanth Reddy mocked it as begging. Now, Congress promises ₹15,000 but gives only ₹12,000. What happened to the extra ₹2,000?” he questioned.

He also took aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of neglecting Telangana during critical times. “Rahul Gandhi talks about commitment to Telangana, but where was he during the state’s crises? His claims are hollow,” Pallaiah added.

Pallaiah labeled the reduced aid as “daylight robbery” and alleged that the Rythu Bharosa scheme was a political ploy to win upcoming local body elections. “Farmers will not forgive this betrayal,” he warned.

Other Concerns Raised by BRS Leaders

BRS leaders highlighted the welfare measures implemented under Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), which they claimed transformed Telangana into a model for agricultural development. They accused Congress of continuing its “legacy of deception” by failing to uphold manifesto commitments and demanded a public apology for reducing the promised amount under the Rythu Bharosa scheme.

    Protest Participants

The protest saw participation from various BRS leaders, including Mandal President Mattali, Naresh Venkatesh, Rangaswami, Mangali Ravi, and Madhav. Several farmers, including Saleem, Simon, Shadrick, and Shiva, also joined the demonstration to express their discontent over Congress’s alleged betrayal.

The protest highlighted growing tensions between BRS and Congress as both parties gear up for the upcoming elections, with farmers’ welfare becoming a key battleground.
