BRS MLA Accused of Lake Encroachment in City

Hyderabad: A case has been filed against BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy. He is accused of building educational institution structures by allegedly encroaching on Nadam Cheruvu, a lake located in Ghatkesar, under the Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

The complaint was made by A Paramesh, the Assistant Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Department in Ghatkesar. Following the complaint, the Pocharam IT Corridor police, under the Rachakonda commissionerate, registered the case under various legal sections.

The institutions involved are the Anurag Group of Institutions and Gayatri Educational Trust. According to the complaint, these institutions were “illegally constructed” within the buffer zone of the lake in Venkatapur village.

In his police complaint, the official stated that there were illegal constructions of college buildings in the buffer zone of Nadam Cheruvu. He inspected the site on August 22 and observed that the construction was done willfully and illegally.

Under the Irrigation Act, constructing any type of structure or altering a water body and its surrounding areas is considered highly objectionable and illegal. The official has requested a detailed investigation, the filing of an FIR against those responsible, and the initiation of appropriate steps to address the violations.
