Hyderabad: Medak MP Raghunandan Rao has called on the State government to demolish all illegal buildings owned by leaders of the Opposition BRS party. He accused both the Congress and BRS parties of pretending to address the issue of illegal structures being torn down by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HYDRA).
Rao questioned the Congress government’s claim that HYDRA was established with good intentions. He demanded that if the government truly means it, they should start by demolishing buildings illegally occupied and constructed by BRS leaders, particularly those linked to KTR, Kavitha, and Harish Rao. He also questioned why Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was hesitant to demolish farmhouses owned by KTR and other BRS leaders.
The MP went on to criticize the Revanth Reddy government for being fearful of former chief minister KCR and the BRS party. He pointed out that land encroachments had increased during the 10-year rule of the BRS party and demanded strict action against those responsible for these encroachments during KCR’s tenure. Rao specifically challenged the Congress government to take down a farmhouse in Janwada, allegedly constructed by KTR in violation of the rules.
Raghunandan Rao also questioned why, if cases have been filed against those who encroached on Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zones of tanks, these individuals have not been arrested. He recalled that in 2014, the High Court had ordered the demolition of the N-Convention Centre, owned by actor Nagarjuna, but no action was taken.
He demanded that KT Rama Rao, who was the Municipal Administration Minister at that time, explain why no action was taken against the N-Convention Centre. Rao further called for KTR to be arrested as the first accused for failing to act against the encroachments related to the N-Convention Centre.
