The BRS (Bharatiya Raitha Sangha) has requested the Election Commission of India (ECI) to withdraw its order of stopping the Rythu Bandhu scheme and allow the financial assistance to be given to farmers. The BRS leaders met with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to discuss this issue. They explained that the Rabi season has started in Telangana and the government had planned to give the Rythu Bandhu assistance to farmers from November 24. The government had informed the ECI about this and received permission with certain conditions. However, the ECI later withdrew its permission, stating that there should be no disbursement until the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is no longer in effect in Telangana.
The BRS leaders clarified that Harish Rao, a government official, did not make any comment in violation of the ECI’s order. He simply expressed gratitude for the decision to allow the disbursement. The BRS leaders also pointed out that the PM Kisan scheme, a central government program, is still giving financial assistance to farmers. They argued that there is no difference between the two schemes in terms of helping farmers.
