Hyderabad: On Monday, KT Rama Rao, the BRS working president, promised support to farmers impacted by the regional ring road (RRR) alignment. He assured them that his party would address their concerns in Parliament.
Farmers from Nalgonda, Suryapet, Gajwel, and Sangareddy met with him at Telangana Bhavan. These areas have been affected by the RRR alignment.
KTR emphasized that during the BRS administration, agriculture and irrigation projects were top priorities, leading to a thriving farming sector. He mentioned that the government engaged with farmers when land issues occurred, offering rehabilitation and lasting solutions. He criticized the Congress for altering road alignments, which he claims have harmed poor farmers’ livelihoods.
KTR stated that BRS members of Parliament would bring up the RRR issue in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. He also said the matter would be discussed in the Assembly to ensure the government addresses it.
He urged farmers to stay positive and avoid rash decisions. He reassured them that BRS would support them until a well-planned alignment is established.
KTR encouraged the affected farmers to unite, pass resolutions in their villages, and boycott local elections. He believes this will pressure both central and state governments to take notice and act on the issue.
