The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced that it has collected over 10 lakh signatures during its recent door-to-door campaign against the arrests of its leaders, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain. Gopal Rai, the AAP’s Delhi unit convener, stated that a letter will be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protest the arrests. The party began the campaign in all the wards of Delhi last month, with the aim of collecting signatures from residents. Rai said that district incharges, Lok Sabha incharges, and councillors were all involved in the campaign.

Rai claimed that Sisodia and Jain were responsible for transforming the education and healthcare system in the national capital. He stated that Sisodia had improved government schools while Jain had created the model for mohalla clinics. Rai added that people were angry about the arrests of these individuals. During a press conference, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj thanked the people of Delhi for supporting the campaign.

Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on February 26 for his alleged involvement in corruption relating to the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Jain was arrested in May last year by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. Both resigned from the Delhi cabinet in February.
