Hyderabad – In a peaceful break from the excitement of the 72nd Miss World pageant, ten contestants from the Caribbean took a spiritual trip to the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Telangana.
This visit was part of the Miss World Organisation’s goal to give contestants a deep cultural experience during their stay in India. The group received a warm welcome through a traditional Deeparadhana ceremony, where lamps are lit to symbolize the removal of darkness and the start of wisdom and prosperity.
The temple grounds came alive with classical dance performances and bhajan singing, offering the contestants a true taste of Telangana’s rich spiritual and cultural traditions. It was a colorful and moving experience for the visiting delegates.
The contestants toured the temple complex with guides who explained the temple’s history and spiritual meaning. They also took part in special Darshan and Pooja rituals, praying and receiving blessings from the deity.
To remember the occasion, the contestants posed for photographs inside the temple and were gifted sacred Prasadam and souvenirs. These mementos symbolized both the temple’s warmth and the blessings they received.
Julia Morley, CEO of the Miss World Organisation, shared her thoughts on the visit. “This experience gave our contestants a meaningful look into India’s deep spiritual roots. It helps them grow personally and understand the universal values of peace and devotion,” she said.
The trip reflects the pageant’s mission to promote cultural understanding and global unity. It encourages contestants to connect with places and traditions far beyond the competition stage.
As the Miss World 2024 journey continues, participants will travel across India, discovering more of its diverse culture and heritage. These experiences aim to shape them not only as pageant contenders but also as global ambassadors of unity and respect.
