In Nagarkurnool, the Chenchupentas in the Nallamalla forest region experienced their first-ever voting process since India gained independence. The voter turnout was impressive, with 75% of the eligible voters participating. The District Election Officer and Collector, P Uday Kumar, set up nine polling stations in the forested areas to accommodate the 290 voters from different Chenchupentas.

The Chenchu community, which was once known as a stronghold of Naxalites, has undergone a significant transformation. They now recognize the importance of the Constitution and the electoral process and actively participate in choosing their leaders. Collector Uday Kumar praised the election staff for their successful management of the voting process at the specially established polling stations.

Previously, Chenchu voters had to travel 25 km to reach faraway polling stations, which discouraged many from participating. However, with the establishment of polling stations in their own communities, voters expressed their joy and gratitude for the convenience and accessibility provided. They also commended the Election Commission for setting up seven new polling stations in Lingala mandal and two in Amrabadmandal to serve the Chenchu tribal communities.
