Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced several development projects for the city on Friday. One of the major projects includes the construction of a new Osmania Hospital building on 30 acres of land at the police quarters in the Goshamahal area. Additionally, a new suspension bridge will be built on the Mir Alam Tank.
The announcements were made during a Short Discussion on ‘Activities for Sustainable Urban Development in Hyderabad Metro City’ in the Assembly. The Chief Minister unveiled his vision for making Hyderabad a prominent city through his plans under the HYDRAA initiative.
New Osmania Hospital Building at Goshamahal
Revanth Reddy stated that the government aims to preserve the old heritage building while constructing a new hospital building in the Goshamahal area. He plans to visit the site within 15 to 20 days to ensure the removal of the Police Quarters. The new building will be situated on 30 acres of land.
Extended Operating Hours for Restaurants and Hotels
The Chief Minister announced that restaurants and hotels within Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda limits will be allowed to remain open until 1 am. However, liquor shops will not be permitted to operate beyond their designated hours. Revanth Reddy emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order, stating that the government aims to make Hyderabad a top city globally.
Hyderabad Eye and Suspension Bridge at Mir Alam Tank
A 2.6 km long Suspension Bridge will be constructed at Mir Alam Tank. The project report is expected within 30 days. This bridge will connect the Bengaluru Highway to the PVNR Expressway. Additionally, a ‘Hyderabad Eye’ tower, similar to the London Eye, will be developed to enhance the beauty of the Old City.
Criticism of Former CM
Revanth Reddy criticized the former Chief Minister for not doing anything significant for the city, other than building a Secretariat and Pragathi Bhavan. He accused the former CM of demolishing mosques and temples and mentioned that he is now out of power.
HYDRAA Initiative
The Chief Minister explained that HYDRAA was developed with the intention of planning for the core urban region, including clusters, satellite areas, and regional ring roads. The HYDRAA initiative will cover 2,000 sq km and address issues like illegal constructions, encroachments, and lack of facilities. The goal is to develop Hyderabad as an international city, with reforms in place for disaster management.
Drug Rackets
Revanth Reddy mentioned that the government has information about prominent individuals involved in drug rackets. He stated that this issue would be discussed when opposition members are present, and assured that the government has all the necessary data.
Water Project for Gajwel
The Chief Minister also noted that BRS Chief K. Chandrashekar Rao brought water to Gajwel from the Sripad Rao Yellampally project, utilizing the main trunk of the project.
