Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to speed up land acquisition and compensation payments for national highway construction. He warned of strict action against any delays in these projects.
On Monday, the CM conducted a high-level review meeting about national highway construction, permissions, and new proposals. Revanth Reddy questioned NHAI officials about raising new issues during the Regional Ring Road (RRR) North construction. He asked them to send all queries at once. The officials assured the CM they would report any remaining doubts to the government.
The CM urged NHAI to immediately grant permissions for RRR North and South and to start both projects simultaneously. NHAI showed readiness to approve the RRR South alignment.
Revanth Reddy also requested immediate permissions for the Bharat Future City-Amaravati-Machilipatnam 12-lane greenfield highway. He mentioned plans for a Dry Port, Logistics Park, and Industrial Park in Bharat Future City. This highway will link the capitals of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, easing goods and passenger transport. It will cut the distance between Hyderabad and Vijayawada by 70 km and is expected to generate significant revenue.
The CM reminded that the greenfield highway was part of the AP Reorganization Act and urged for required permissions under PM Gatishakti or similar schemes. He also requested a railway line between Bengaluru, Shamshabad Airport, and Amaravati alongside the highway, suitable for Vande Bharat trains.
Reviewing pending highways, Revanth Reddy sought quick approval for the elevated corridor on the Hyderabad-Srisailam route between Raviryal and Mannanur. Due to many devotees visiting Srisailam, he instructed NHAI to approve and start this work immediately. He also ordered Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to resolve a pending case about removing Banyan trees on the Hyderabad-Manneguda road.
In a video call with district Collectors, the CM asked about delays in land acquisition and compensation for highways. He directed the Chief Secretary to report on pending cases, discuss with the Advocate General, and resolve them within a week. Collectors mentioned delays in fund releases from the Competent Authority for Land Acquisition. NHAI responded that they release funds after lists are uploaded, urging collectors to expedite this process.
The CM warned collectors that the government would not tolerate delays and instructed them to finish arbitration cases and upload lists promptly. He set a deadline for completing land acquisition and compensation by the end of October and warned of removal from service for any negligence.
Revanth Reddy also reviewed complaints from the Forest and Environment Department regarding highway construction. He assured that alternative land would be provided for forest development and expressed willingness to meet Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Bhupender Yadav if needed.
